Caught in the Killing Zone

Caught in the Killing Zone

Written by: M. Charles

Stars: 1.5

I am always willing to try new books by new authors, and the majority of the time I am very pleased and satisfied with the books I have read, but not this time. The first issue was with the formatting of the book for a Kindle - there were several very obvious typos, sentences were broken up as if a new paragraph had started, and that was just the beginning of the problems I had with this book. Now, don't get me wrong, I liked the basic premise of the story being told, but it needs a lot of work and the author used too many euphemisms either out of embarrassment or inexperience when attempting to write the sex scenes (and yes, there were quite a few of them!) which nearly made me put down the book for good.

The characters were anything but real, unless you live in a world where it is perfectly normal to fall in love and be engaged within a few hours or days of meeting (the author had this happen twice). A world where a 30 something year old woman suddenly decides that she is bi-sexual after one encounter, which also causes her to suddenly decide she just can't get enough of either men or women. Other than all of the above, the story line was a good one, and I honestly think with a good editor and some rewriting this could be an excellent book. Other warnings to prospective readers, this book does have violence, and drug use as well as the many sex scenes so it really is for adults only.
